Our Approach We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it. Retention Periods Account Data — Retention: While your account is active, plus 30 days after deletion. Includes: Email, profile information, preferences. Reason: Provide services and allow account recovery Content You Create — Retention: Until you delete it, or 30 days after account deletion. Includes: Posts, recipes, photos, price updates, events. Reason: Display to the community, maintain platform integrity. Note: After account deletion, content may be retained anonymously if it's part of active discussions Location Data — Retention: 90 days, then anonymized. Includes: Location sharing history, check-ins. Reason: Show recent nearby activity, then aggregate for analytics Usage Data — Retention: 18 months in identifiable form, then anonymized indefinitely. Includes: Page views, features used, device information. Reason: Improve services, fix bugs, understand trends Communication Records — Retention: 3 years. Includes: Support tickets, reports, moderation actions. Reason: Customer service, dispute resolution, safety Financial Records — Retention: 7 years. Includes: Transaction history, billing information (if applicable). Reason: Legal and tax compliance Security & Fraud Logs — Retention: 2 years. Includes: Login attempts, IP addresses, security events. Reason: Protect against abuse, investigate security incidents When You Delete Your Account When you delete your account: 1. Your profile becomes inaccessible immediately 2. Your personal information is deleted within 30 days 3. Your content is deleted or anonymized within 30 days 4. Some data may be retained longer for legal compliance (see below) Grace Period: You have 30 days to recover your account before permanent deletion. Extended Retention We may retain data longer than stated above if required to: • Comply with legal obligations (subpoenas, court orders) • Resolve disputes or enforce our agreements • Prevent fraud or abuse • Protect the safety of our users or others In these cases, data is retained securely and only accessed when necessary. Data Anonymization When we anonymize data, we remove or modify identifying information so it cannot be linked back to you. Anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and research to improve our services. Backup Data We maintain regular backups for disaster recovery. Data in backups may persist for up to 90 days after deletion from active systems, but these backups are not accessible or used except for system restoration. Secure Deletion When we delete data, we use industry-standard methods to ensure it cannot be recovered. This includes overwriting data and destroying physical storage media when decommissioned.
